Sustainability with our partner Delabie

Sustainability enjoys a high priority

Moderate consumption and a new attitude towards environmentally conscious behaviour in everyday life are becoming increasingly common in our society. In particular, the reduction of water and energy consumption, the purchase of organic products from the region and the use of environmentally friendly means of transport in public transport and in the logistics sector contribute significantly to greater sustainability.

Against the backdrop of economic and environmental issues and challenges, companies are given an important role as they can directly influence the consumption of energy and water in the manufacture of their products.

By using a suitable product, you can save around 90 per cent of water when washing your hands alone and in this way permanently prevent the unnecessary waste of energy. In this context, it is therefore naturally important to attach great importance to choosing the right equipment.

Ecological considerations take centre stage

At DELABIE, conserving natural resources and controlling water and energy consumption have been key challenges for more than 90 years. To ensure the highest possible sustainability, the company takes ecological considerations into account and combines them with design-oriented products for public areas.

Sanitary rooms in public spaces have a particularly high water consumption, which is why innovative solutions for the benefit of the environment are needed here. DELABIE is considered a pioneer in the field of an ecologically oriented economy and has, for example, developed so-called self-closing fittings. These high-performance products are much more efficient and sustainable in terms of energy and water savings compared to competing solutions from other manufacturers.

High-quality products with a green thumb

DELABIE is committed to sustainable and responsible action in all areas of the company. Modern, high-quality washbasin taps, for example, have a flow rate of 1.5 to a maximum of 3 litres per minute. Most of our competitors market taps for the private sector with a water flow rate of approximately 6 to 12 litres per minute.

However, reducing the flow rate is not enough to ensure sustainable water consumption in the long term. Hand washing or soaping up accounts for the largest share of unnecessary water consumption, at around 60 per cent. To counteract this situation, DELABIE has developed a special system that automatically stops the flow of water between wetting and washing up.

In addition, the product developers at DELABIE are working on increasingly efficient functionalities that reduce power consumption while still focusing on optimum user comfort. With this in mind, numerous fittings have a light actuation to make the water run with only an extremely light mechanical pressure.

Sensible consumption through appropriate solutions

The further development and improvement of the product range depends decisively on customer acceptance. This can only be achieved if the sanitary equipment offers a comfortable solution and covers individual needs as comprehensively as possible. Furthermore, detailed consultation is absolutely necessary for this purpose. Only on this basis can sustainable concepts survive on the market in the long term.

Heavily frequented public spaces, such as airports, suffer far less from water stagnation. In such a scenario, electronic taps with special hygienic flushing are not absolutely necessary. Mechanical self-closing taps are far more suitable in these areas.

If, on the other hand, the focus is on reducing the risk of bacterial transmission, electronic solutions can offer much better protection from a hygienic point of view. Such installations are used, among other things, for WC flushing without manual contact.

In the public sector, different requirements have to be met throughout. DELABIE has developed new, innovative technologies for this purpose. These include, for example, a so-called rush-hour programme for urinals. This concept provides for reducing the consumption of water when there is heavy use within a short period of time. One conceivable scenario is the half-time break at a football match.

Short flushes contribute to better comfort. As soon as the increased visitor frequency in the sanitary rooms subsides, a thorough flush is performed. The rush-hour programme also prevents the problem of stagnant water in less-used areas. For this purpose, a hygiene flush is carried out at regular intervals of 24 hours.

Basically, it must be taken into account that electronic taps of poor quality cause a 2 to 3 times higher water flow. Compared to self-closing taps, the savings are therefore much lower than expected. For this reason, in addition to self-closing taps, DELABIE's electronic tap solutions are also equipped with an optimised water flow. Meanwhile, the renowned company with the green thumb attaches particular importance to the lowest possible energy and water consumption when developing new products.
